The University will celebrate Puerto Rican Week Nov. 14–21 with a variety of educational and cultural activities.
“A Taste of Puerto Rican Cuisine” will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Trotter House. Recipes for traditional dishes will be available.
Physician Jose J. Gorrin will discuss health reform plans being implemented in Puerto Rico by Gov. Pedro Rossello at 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at Trotter House.
The award-winning documentary Desigualdad y Pobreza en Puerto Rico (no English subtitles) will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in Room 2011, Modern Language Building. The film focuses on the problem of poverty in Puerto Rico.
A cultural night featuring the Tradicion Latina Band begins at 8 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Michigan Union Ballroom. Participants will have an opportunity to celebrate Puerto Rican culture through music and dancing. Tickets, $5, are available at the Michigan Union Box Office. Photo I.D. is required.
