Record begins 1993–94 publication schedule; available campuswide

The University Record begins its 1993–94 publication schedule today (Sept. 7).

Published by the Office of News and Information Services, the Record is distributed each Monday September–May, except during holiday periods, and biweekly June–August.

As the University’s official publication, the Record carries articles of interest to faculty, staff and retirees, and letters to the editor from members of the University community on issues of broad general interest to the University community. (See page 4 for letters policy.) It also includes job postings for the University’s three campuses and a calendar of events.

The Record is distributed campuswide to more than 65 racks in high-traffic buildings, usually in the lobby or near the main entrance. Copies are available in residence hall lobbies and are sent through Campus Mail to a number of departments and administrative units.

It also is mailed to faculty and staff retirees and surviving spouses, a national group of fund-raising volunteers, and to community, state and federal administrators interested in the University. Subscriptions are available for $40 (full year) and $15 (three months).

Suggestions for articles are welcomed by the editorial staff. Faculty and staff also are encouraged to submit items for Kudos, a feature highlighting honors received by individuals for activities directly related to their University work.

Information for news briefs (the short items at the top of the page) and calendar entries must be received by 5 p.m. the Tuesday preceding publication. They must be in writing and also can be sent via the MTS message system or the Banyan Vines system. A form for submitting calendar items is on page 18. Organizations submitting calendar and news briefs items must be affiliated with the University.

The Record also publishes notices for researchers seeking subjects for their research projects. The fee is $25 for each notice.

Display advertising space is available for U-M affiliates and commercial advertisers. Rate cards explaining fees and deadlines are available at the Record office, 412 Maynard St.

Record editorial staff: Jane R. Elgass, executive editor, 747-1841; Mary Jo Frank, editor, 764-4266; Rebecca A Doyle, associate editor, 764-6825; and Barbara J. Wilson, calendar coordinator, 747-1852. All can be reached via the MTS message system or Banyan Vines @NewsInfoServ@UnivRelations.
