Ballots are due June 18 in safety committee election

Ballots were mailed in late May to bargained-for employees to elect a representative for a two-year term to the University’s Public Safety Oversight Committee.

Mandated by state law, the committee receives and makes recommendaitons regarding grievances against public safety officers deputized by the Univeristy.

The group is convened by Royster Harper, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students.

Candidates for the post are: Patricia Darden, former AFSCME president; Steve Jaynes, air conditioning/refrigeration mechanic, University Hospitals; and Phillip (Mike) Pepper, operating engineer, Heating and Utilities.

Ballots are due June 18.
