An exhibition organized by College of Architecture and Urban Planning faculty members has received a special recognition award in a competition sponsored by Interiors magazine.
The multi-media exhibition, part of the College’s conference on “Shelter, Women and Development: First and Third World Perspectives” last May, was developed by Betsy Williams, who was adjunct assistant professor of architecture, and Melissa Harris, assistant professor of architecture. A dozen students were involved in the design, construction and installation of the exhibition.
Williams, currently an architect with David W. Osler Associates in Ann Arbor, described the project as “a challenge to build an environment that would make public a social problem our country—and the world—is struggling with, and one that should be part of every architect’s and designer’s consciousness.”
