Matthew Cardwell, an LS&A junior and coordinator of Advice, the course and professor evaluation publication for students, says that “generally, the criticisms we hear from students in the term-end evaluations are not big problems, but things that can be improved upon. Looking at the aggregate data for LS&A for the past three years, the most frequent concern is the lecture style of the professor. Students often say that the lecturer is either self-absorbed or overly academic.” The excessive amount of reading assigned in the allotted time is the second most often recorded comment.
Advice is published at the end of the fall and winter terms and receives its data from term-end course evaluations. “The information from the evaluations can only be made available to Advice by the instructor,” Cardwell explains.
