Leonard elected to AAEM office
James A. Leonard Jr., clinical associate professor and associate chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, has been elected secretary-treasurer of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AAEM). He will become president-elect in October 1993.
Lippi-Green edits book
Rosina Lippi-Green, assistant professor of Germanic languages and literatures, is the editor of Recent Developments in Germanic Linguistics, which appears in Current Issues in Linguistic Theory published by the John Benjamins Publishing Co. The volume contains a selection of papers presented at the 1991 Michigan-Berkeley Germanic Linguistics Roundtable held in Ann Arbor in April 1991.
AAA honors Flannery
Kent V. Flannery, the James B. Griffin Distinguished University Professor of Anthropological Archaeology and curator, Museum of Anthropology, has received the 1992 Alfred Vincent Kidder Award from the American Anthropological Association (AAA). Given every three years in the name of one of the country’s pioneer archaeologists in the American Southwest, the award recognizes eminence in the field of American archaeology.
Sandra Cole heads association of sex educators
Sandra S. Cole, clinical professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will serve as president of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists until 1994. She also has been elected a fellow in the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex.
Commerce Department cites Krzyzowski
Marian Krzyzowski, director of the Michigan Business Assistant Corps of the School of Business Administration, has been cited by the Commerce Department for his “outstanding accomplishment in enhancing the global competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing firms as director of the Great Lakes Trade Adjustment Assistance Center and use of that experience in pioneering efforts to strengthen the emerging market economies in Eastern Europe.” Corps students spend a summer in Poland or Russia, assisting government agencies and individual companies in implementing economic change and converting to private ownership.
Tate chairs research committee
Denise G. Tate, assistant professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is chair of the Research Committee of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine for an 18-month term ending June 1994.
