The University and American Express have entered into a new agreement. Effective immediately, the University is sponsoring a dual corporate charge card program, enabling faculty and staff to use the Corporate American Express Charge Card and/or the First Banks VISA Corporate Card.
There is no annual membership fee associated with either corporate charge card. Cardholders who retained their American Express renewal cards, mailed in late August/early September, may use them effective Oct. 1. Cardholders who discarded the renewal cards or who did not receive them and wish to reinstate their accounts may request replacement cards by calling 1-800-528-2122.
American Express, like First Banks VISA, includes LDW/CDW (Loss/Collision Damage Waiver) as a benefit; however, we continue to urge travelers to rent from Hertz because of favorable prices and the automatic inclusion of free Loss Damage Waiver at all participating locations in the United States. It is important to utilize the U-M’s identification number—215473—when making reservations with Hertz. The Risk Management Office suggests that faculty and staff decline LDW/CDW when renting a car.
