Faculty and staff are being encouraged to join students in competing with their Michigan State University counterparts in the annual Mitten Matchup Blood Competition.
The contest for the most blood donors runs through Feb. 28.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment to donate on the American Red Cross website using the sponsor code “goblue.” Dates, times, and locations of this year’s on-campus blood drives are listed below. All presenting donors will receive a Mitten Matchup T-shirt and coupons for local businesses including, Bruegger’s Bagels and BD’s Mongolian Barbeque, while supplies last.
The American Red Cross has launched a new tool called Rapid Pass, which allows donors to complete their donation quicker by completing some steps before arriving at the blood drive.
Due to blood donation eligibility requirements set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the American Red Cross, not everyone will be able to donate. However, all of our drives aim to provide an inclusive atmosphere. Learn more about blood donation requirements.
Donors should eat iron-rich foods and drink plenty of water before donating blood so they are healthy on the day of your donation.
