MSU partners with Indian media giant to help local farmers
Michigan State University and the Indian media company Ramoji Film City, which reaches some 620 million Indians, are partnering to help farmers better produce food for India. MSU will help Ramoji identify stories about agricultural innovations that can help meet climate change, drought, flooding and other production challenges.
Wayne State University recognized for transfer student initiatives
Wayne State University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa’s 2017 Transfer Honor Roll, which recognizes excellence in community college transfer pathways. Wayne State is one of only 65 institutions selected. Winners were chosen based on engagement, collaboration, impact and achievements related to the transfer of community college students. WSU will be recognized April 6-8 at Phi Theta Kappa’s convention, PTK Catalyst 2017, in Nashville.

UMD signs $64.8M cooperative agreement with NASA
The Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland has been awarded a five-year, $64.8 million cooperative agreement with NASA. The award will enable UMD to expand its close collaboration with NASA Goddard and better understand the influence of human activities on Earth’s atmosphere, oceans, land masses and biosphere.
University of Minnesota partners with city of Ramsey
The University of Minnesota’s Resilient Communities Project announced today that the city of Ramsey has been selected as its partner community for the 2017-18 academic year. Ramsey and the university will collaborate on 20 multidisciplinary projects that advance community from Ramsey’s Strategic Plan focused on a stable tax base, a connected community, smart citizen-focused government, and an efficient organization.
Northwestern alumnus donates $3M social justice gift
Northwestern University alumnus David Freedman has made a $3 million commitment to further the study of reporting on social justice issues. Freedman’s gift will establish the David F. Freedman Fund for Social Justice Reporting Initiatives to support programs focused on wrongful convictions, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, globalization, and other social justice issues.
