Nadia Bazzy to serve as interim leader for SAPAC

Nadia Bazzy, assistant director of the Office of Student Conflict Resolution, will serve as the University of Michigan’s interim director of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center while a national search for a permanent director launches this spring.

Vice President for Student Life E. Royster Harper announced the interim appointment that went into effect March 3.

“Nadia’s impressive experience and guidance has well positioned her to lead SAPAC during this transition period,” Harper says.

Bazzy joined U-M in 2015 as the sexual misconduct program manager in OSCR and became assistant director of sexual misconduct in 2016.

During that time, Bazzy has worked with campus partners to provide support to develop and implement the university’s revised sexual misconduct policy, which launched July 1, 2016.

Bazzy is a marriage and family therapist who has provided long-term therapy, crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. Her areas of specialties include peace building, restorative justice and trauma healing.

Former SAPAC director Holly Rider-Milkovich departed the university on Jan. 30 to serve as the senior director of prevention at Everfi, a national leader in campus sexual and gender-based violence prevention whose online trainings reach more than 5 million students annually. Rider-Milkovich joined U-M as SAPAC director in 2010.

During Rider-Milkovich’s time on campus, U-M has emerged as a vanguard institution, leading the country with a visible and significant commitment to comprehensive sexual misconduct prevention and response.
