UM-Dearborn ELPP receives five-year accreditation
UM-Dearborn’s English Language Proficiency Program (ELPP) recently received an initial five-year accreditation from the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation. UM-Dearborn launched ELPP in 2012 to provide English language support to students provisionally admitted to the university — meeting the academic standards to enroll but not the English standards. With accreditation, UM-Dearborn can apply for governmental approval to write Certificates of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Students for English Training Programs. This will allow the university to accept a greater variety of students, and partner with countries that work only with universities that can write these forms.
ERGO grants available to improve work processes
MHealthy offers U-M departments and units up to $5,000 to purchase equipment or redesign work processes to solve ergonomic issues. Submit an application if your work group regularly: experiences physical discomfort due to manually lifting, pushing, pulling, or transporting equipment, items or patients; bends over, reaches up or performs awkward, repetitive motion for several hours a work day; or experiences physical stress or discomfort due to work conditions. Any regular employee can apply. Grant applications are accepted year-round. Once funds are exhausted, applications will be held until next fiscal year. Apply at MHealthy.umich.edu/ergo. Those who are independently solving ergonomic issues in the workplace can be nominated for an ERGO Hero Award. Learn more at hr.umich.edu/mhealthy/programs/ergonomics/awards/index.html.
