Addressing issues of health care access and equity will be the subject of the 25th Annual Health Sciences MLK Day Lecture from noon-1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Dow Auditorium of the Towsley Center for Continuing Medical Education.
Marie Chisholm-Burns, dean and professor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy, and professor of surgery in the College of Medicine, will present “Unity not Uniformity: A Spotlight on Health Disparities.”
Her lecture is part of the U-M’s annual symposium honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bus transportation will be provided from Hill Auditorium at 11:30 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
Chisholm-Burns has dedicated much of her career to issues of health care access and equity. In addition to her administrative and scholarly activities, she is founder and director of the Medication Access Program for transplant recipients.
Her areas of research include transplant medicine, health services, scholarship of teaching, and health care access, equity and disparities. She has published several textbooks that have been adopted in many schools of pharmacy, medicine and nursing.
