Construction began on a Student Activities Building at 515 E. Jefferson St. The $1.75 million project was financed from borrowings secured by future student fee allocations and university sources. The building was completed in 1957. Original occupants included the Student Government Council, Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils, Dean of Women, Glee Club, International Student Association, and the Dean of Men.
