The new Wall Street Parking Structure is scheduled to open July 7, adding 720 Blue and Gold spaces for U-M employees, a net gain of 509 spaces from the old Wall Street lot where the structure was built.
The five-story structure on Wall Street and Maiden Lane is within walking distance from the Medical Campus and accessible from multiple bus routes.
It will be equipped with electric-vehicle charging stations and a covered bus stop for parkers to wait for one of several bus routes. It also will feature open space on each side containing park-like landscaping with trees and gardens for storm-water management irrigation.
In addition to the opening of the structure in July, new and improved U-M bus routes will become available for several Medical Campus locations next week.
On June 16, new bus routes will serve campus areas previously accessible from the UMHS Intercampus and Research Link bus routes. The Intercampus and Research Link routes will be discontinued, with the following new ones in place:
North-East Shuttle
Buses on this route will stop at the back of the North Campus Administrative Complex and North Campus Research Complex every 15 minutes, instead of every 20. The trip to the main Medical Campus will also be shorter.
For the first time, the bus will serve the Plymouth Road/U.S.-23 park-and-ride lot on its route to and from the East Ann Arbor Health Center and Domino’s Farms, which will assist patients going to and from those clinical points-of-service.
The new route will not take riders to the front door of the Kellogg Eye Center or North Ingalls Building. To get to either of those locations people will need to drive or take a bus that stops nearby and walk a short distance.
The North-East Shuttle will have a similar route as UMHS Intercampus, but without the section of Plymouth Road west of Green Road, the Murfin Avenue section, and the Wall Street and North Ingalls Building section.
The route will:
• Continue to serve the Green Road park-and-ride lot.
• Continue to serve the V.A. Hospital bus stop every 30 minutes, with stops 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour.
• Maintain nearly identical service hours as the Intercampus route from 6:15 a.m.-7:15 p.m.
Wall Street-NIB
This new bus loop will get Medical Campus staff, NIB staff and School of Nursing staff from the new Wall Street structure to the Medical Campus “hill” and to North Ingalls Building and back.
Service hours will be 6 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Friday. The bus will run:
• Every 11 minutes from 6 a.m.-9 a.m.
• Every 22 minutes between from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Every 11 minutes from 3 p.m.-7 p.m.
Wall Street Express
This new loop will also get Medical Campus staff back and forth between the new Wall Street structure and the Medical Campus “hill.”
The bus will run every 15 minutes from 5:10 a.m.-5:52 a.m. and 7 p.m.-1:07 a.m., Monday-Friday.
