The university continues to demonstrate its leadership in higher education with a strong showing in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of the nation’s best graduate schools.
U-M now has 100 graduate programs ranked in the top 10 by U.S. News & World Report. Only Harvard, Stanford and University of California-Berkeley have more graduate programs in the top 10.

- More about the Medical School rankings.
Among the programs ranked each year in “Best Graduate Schools” — business, education, engineering, law and medicine — U-M maintained top-15 rankings in all five categories in the 2015 edition released today.
The annual list shows consistently high rankings for U-M programs.
The Stephen M. Ross School of Business ranked 11th and the School of Education ranked eighth, both climbing three spots from last year. The College of Engineering rose to eighth in the nation, up one spot from last year.
The Law School dropped one spot to 10th. The Medical School’s research ranking dropped four spots to 12th, and its primary care ranking stayed at eighth.
U-M officials note that rankings are just one measure of a university. What matters most in choosing a school is the match between the particular interests, abilities, and ambitions of each student with the specific programs, approaches and opportunities offered by a particular school.
In its second year, U.S. News ranked Best Online Programs recognizing entirely online programs in which all three of U-M campuses received a ranking:
• Engineering ranked seventh, down from fifth (UM-Ann Arbor).
• Business ranked 58th, down from 21 (UM-Dearborn).
• Nursing ranked 24th, down from third (UM-Flint).
In addition to the main program rankings, U-M was rated on 47 specialties. Of those, nuclear engineering was ranked first. Higher education, industrial/manufacturing and geology were ranked second. All told, 29 of the 47 specialties in which U-M is ranked either improved their positions or stayed the same.
Many specialties did not receive new rankings this year. But among those that did, U-M was ranked as follows:
• Biological sciences overall (19).

Social Work was rated number 1 in the country in 2012 – why is this not on the list?

The story above only includes new rankings. Not all programs are ranked annually. Programs ranked in previous years are not highlighted in the story.

Kim Broekhuizen, you must be dizzy from navigating the sea of web pages over at U.S. News in order to arrive at your summary! Those folks are masters of pushing an ocean of content (ads) past our eyeballs.
