Statement from President Coleman on Typhoon Haiyan

Topics:

To the Campus Community,

As we learn more details about the typhoon devastation in the Philippines, the desire to help grows stronger.

While no students or faculty were in the Philippines during this terrible storm, our thoughts are with those in the U-M community with Filipino roots or who have family and friends living in the region.

The U-M Health System is working with World Medical Relief to repurpose medical supplies and equipment for use in areas of greatest need.

Numerous relief agencies are working to deliver aid to the region, including the American Red Cross and UNICEF. To help, please consider supporting their work.

The University has deep ties to the Philippines, dating back nearly 140 years, and includes helping the nation rebuild following World War II. As Filipinos look to the weeks and months ahead, our support will help further that global relationship.

Sincerely,

Mary Sue Coleman
