W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden putting on quite a show

The famed peonies at the University of Michigan’s W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden rarely disappoint when they reach full bloom.

This year, they are treating visitors to an especially stunning display.

According to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum website, the lead horticulturist said this year’s cool April weather helped create a “super bloom” with thousands of flowers opening.

“Most of the garden is in bloom, with some early bloomers beginning to lose petals and a few late bloomers still waiting to open,” a June 5 update on the website indicated.
