The application period for the 2025 Road Scholars program is now open through Dec. 1.
This unique five-day bus tour, set for May 5-9, 2025, is facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Government Relations. It allows faculty who are new to the University of Michigan or who hail from outside the state to explore Michigan’s rich tapestry of culture, history and public affairs.

Designed to foster a deeper understanding between the university and the diverse communities of Michigan, the tour offers participants a firsthand look at the places many U-M students call home.
Faculty will engage with local economies, governmental institutions and social sectors, gaining insights that can enrich their research and teaching. All U-M faculty members interested in deepening their engagement with the state’s communities are eligible to apply.
Participants will not only witness the state’s diverse environments but also will explore how they can contribute to addressing local and statewide issues through their scholarly and creative endeavors.
