The idea-generation phase for the University of Michigan’s strategic visioning process will close soon as the project team focuses its effort to develop a draft 10-year strategic vision for the university based on the community’s input.
Vision 2034 will host two remaining town halls this month for staff and faculty to share ideas about the university’s focus for the next 10 years.

An in-person session will be conducted 9-10:15 a.m. May 25 at the Michigan Union Anderson Rooms, and a virtual session is set for 3:30-4:45 p.m. May 30.
More than 2,500 faculty, staff and students have engaged in the Vision 2034 process so far, either by attending an information-gathering session or by submitting an idea online.
During the summer, the vision project team will review the community input collected alongside other university initiatives — such as the work of the Well-Being Collective, Culture Journey, DEI 2.0 strategic planning and carbon neutrality planning — to develop a draft strategic vision to be shared with the community for feedback in the fall.
In addition, a survey is being developed in partnership with the Institute for Social Research to launch in the fall. This survey will refine the vision and prioritize the ideas and opportunities that have emerged from the community.
