Accolades

Catie Newell, assistant professor of architecture at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, has been named a winner of the Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Rome Prize for her submission “Involving Darkness.” She also is a founding principal of Alibi Studio, based in Detroit. Newell’s creative practice has been recognized for exploring design construction and materiality in relationship to location and cultural contingencies.

Dr. Peter Polverini, dean of the School of Dentistry, recently was installed as the 42nd president of the American Association for Dental Research. An organization of nearly 3,500 members in the U.S., its mission is to advance research and increase knowledge to improve oral health. AADR is the largest division of the International Association for Dental Research.
