The Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs has elected Karen Staller, associate professor of social work, to chair the university’s faculty governance system for the coming year.

Rex Holland, professor of cariology, restorative sciences and endodontics, was elected vice chair. Both positions carry one-year terms that begin May 1. The elections were March 25.

Staller and Holland also will serve as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the 74-member Senate Assembly. SACUA is the nine-member executive arm of the Senate Assembly and the University Senate.

Currently vice chair, Staller was unopposed for chair. Also seeking the vice chair position for 2013-14 was Dr. Charles Koopmann, professor of otorhinolaryngology, and pediatrics and communicable diseases.

Staller will succeed current SACUA Chair Kimberlee Kearfott, professor of nuclear engineering and radiological sciences, biomedical engineering, and radiology. Kearfott’s term on SACUA expires April 30.
