Accolades

Dr. Samuel Silver, assistant dean for research and professor of internal medicine, is to be awarded a mastership by the American College of Physicians. The award is conferred on a select number of candidates deemed distinguished through the practice of internal medicine. He also is to receive an Exemplary Service Award by the American Society of Hematologists for his leadership in advancing its practice and physician reimbursement priorities.

Sarah Thomason , chair of the Department of Linguistics and William J. Gedney Collegiate Professor of Linguistics, recently received Yale University’s Wilbur Cross Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the Yale Graduate School on its alumni. It recognizes distinguished achievements in scholarship, teaching, academic administration and public service. Thompson’s groundbreaking work on language contact was cited, for leading to the creation of a new research area in linguistics.
