Anna Ercoli Schnitzer, disability issues librarian at the Taubman Health Sciences Library, has received the 2012 Michael E. DeBakey Library Services Outreach Award from the Friends of the National Library of Medicine. The award recognizes Schnitzer’s efforts in promoting cross-community partnerships for underserved populations and her dedication to raising awareness of the health information needs of members of the community with disabilities. |
Chih-Chun Chia, graduate student research assistant, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering, and doctorate student in Computer Science and Engineering, has been chosen as the first fellow of the J. Robert Beyster Computational Innovation Graduate Fellows Program. As a Beyster Fellow, Chih-Chun will be performing research to develop computational techniques that can leverage large physiological datasets to improve our understanding of major diseases.
Christine Asidao, assistant director for outreach and education, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), has been selected as one of the 2012 Diversity Leadership Scholarship awardees from the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors. She has been the main architect of CAPS “do something” campaign, among other key contributions.
Paul N. Courant, university librarian and dean of libraries, Harold T Shapiro Collegiate Professor of Public Policy, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, and professor of economics and of information, has been appointed to the inaugural Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) Board of Directors. Courant, who was instrumental to the creation of the HathiTrust Digital Library, has served on the DPLA Steering Committee since its inception in October 2010.
