No-cost clinics set for university employees for 2012-13 flu season

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the best way to prevent influenza is to receive a seasonal flu shot.

There are many ways for U-M faculty, staff and students to receive that protection on campus this year.

MHealthy, in collaboration with Michigan Visiting Care, is conducting walk-in flu-shot clinics for Central, North and South campus faculty and staff at the following locations:

• Wednesday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. — Palmer Commons, Great Lakes Central Room

• Sept. 27, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. — Duderstadt Center Connector Hall

• Oct. 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. — Michigan Union, Wolverine Room

Central, North and South campus employees covered under a U-M health insurance plan will not pay an out-of-pocket fee if their health insurance card is presented; the cost will be charged directly to the U-M insurance plan. Employees not covered under an accepted insurance plan can receive a flu shot at the discounted rate of $25 per person, payable by cash, check or credit card.

Campus employees who are unable to attend one of the flu-shot clinics offered by MHealthy can receive the vaccine through University Health Service. More information is available at www.uhs.umich.edu/fluvaccination.

For faculty and staff at the U-M Health System, including the Medical School, all information about the requirements, and the various ways Health System community members can receive the vaccine, is available at www.med.umich.edu/u/flu. The website must be accessed from a U-M computer or virtual network.
