At least 41 percent of benefits-eligible employees have completed the annual health questionnaire and thousands have completed or made an appointment for a wellness screening for MHealthy Rewards. More than 7,000 employees have earned their $100 incentive for completing both steps of the program.

Screening appointments are available through mid-May. However, for employees who are planning to use values from their health care provider, the form must be submitted to StayWell by April 30.

The university’s goal is to reach 50 percent or more participation in both the health questionnaire and wellness screening by the end of May.

“Participation is trending very well for the health questionnaire and wellness screenings,” says LaVaughn Palma-Davis, senior director of University Health & Well-Being Services. “Appointments are still available but are filling up. For those planning to attend a screening, we recommend making your appointment as soon as possible to have the best selection of dates and times, and to guarantee your spot.”

A wellness screening is an opportunity to “know your numbers” for blood pressure, cholesterol (via finger stick) and other key measures, and develop a plan to achieve health goals. There are two ways for employees to complete a screening:

• Attend an on-site StayWell wellness screening. Screenings are available at a variety of locations and times across all U-M campuses.

• Submit screening values for cholesterol, blood pressure, weight and height taken by health care provider. Values must have been taken between April 1, 2010, and April 1, 2012, and the Health Care Provider Form must be submitted to StayWell by April 30.

To protect privacy, U-M has again contracted with StayWell Health Management, a national provider of health improvement services, to administer the health questionnaire and wellness screening.

This year’s program has been simplified to include only two steps:

• Complete the confidential annual health questionnaire.

• Complete a confidential wellness screening.

Qualifying benefits-eligible employees who complete both steps by May receive a $100 before-tax reward in their paycheck.
