Prosecutor receives WQ home invasion investigation
The investigation into the Oct. 8 home invasions at West Quad led university police to a subject who was visiting a resident that night. Several items that were reported missing from resident rooms have been recovered. The results of the investigation have been submitted to the county prosecutor’s office for review and possible authorization of charges against the visitor.
Originally, one fourth-floor resident had reported to police that he awoke about 3 a.m. to find an unknown male in his room. The suspect apparently entered the room through a window that opens onto a lower-floor roof. Later the same day, another fourth-floor resident reported that property was missing from his room. There were no signs of forced entry.
Police seek identification of a man at East Quad
The Department of Public Safety released photographs last week of a person of interest in connection with a sexual assault of an East Quad resident Oct. 30. The resident told police on Nov. 1 that around 1:45 a.m. Oct. 30, she was walking down the hallway when she was approached from behind by an unknown man. He reached under her clothing and grabbed her buttocks before leaving down a nearby stairwell. The man is described as a black male, college-age or early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches, 170 pounds with dark wavy black hair, wearing dark-colored clothing and carrying a dark-colored backpack. Sexual assault report ruled unfounded
A patron at Michigan Stadium reported Oct. 1 that she inappropriately had been grabbed by another patron during the football game while people were exiting their section prior to half-time. She said she pushed the suspect away and yelled at him before the man left the area. Follow-up interviews with several witnesses indicated that the man had tripped and lost his balance. The investigation has been closed.
Kellogg Eye Center loading dock door damaged
A staff person reported that an interior loading dock door was found pried open, possibly with a crow bar. A facilities office near the loading dock also appeared to be entered. The incident occurred sometime between 2:30 p.m. Sept 30 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 1. No property appeared to be missing. The entire building was checked for additional signs of break-ins, but nothing else was located. The investigation has been closed due to lack of leads.
Pump house in Dexter broken into
The pump house at the U-M’s Peach Mountain property near Dexter was broken into in early October. A staff person found the lock broken, but the pump house contained no removable property so nothing was taken. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. Oct. 6 and 10 a.m. Oct. 7. The investigation has been closed due to lack of leads.
