Information and Technology Services (ITS) upgraded ITS Exchange 2007 to Microsoft’s 2010 version during the summer. In connection with the upgrade, all ITS voicemail services transitioned to a single system, ITS Exchange, which retired the U-M voicemail service.
Faculty and staff now have more flexibility and advanced features:
Voicemail preview: A preview text of a voice message automatically is sent via email along with the sound file. If it’s not convenient to listen to voicemail on a phone or on the Web, users can preview the message in text form. Please keep in mind that the voice-to-text translation may not be accurate. To learn how to disable this feature, go to tinyurl.com/3zpz6aj.
Call answering rules: Users can choose how calls will be handled when they don’t answer the phone. Calls can be directed based on time of day, a user’s Outlook status and/or who is calling. To learn how to manage Call Answering Rules, go to tinyurl.com/4xy59yf.
Change email access over the phone: Now, ITS Exchange Unified Messaging users can choose any email folder to read when calling Outlook Voice Access.
Reset PIN: Learn how to reset PINs at tinyurl.com/3r89ecq. Users can manage their Phone Access PIN through the Outlook Web App (OWA): exchange.umich.edu. This feature only is new to those new to Exchange.
To learn how to enable or disable these features and more, go to www.itcom.itd.umich.edu/exchange/voicemail/top-options.php.
To check ITS Exchange voicemail online, use the Outlook Web App (OWA): exchange.umich.edu. How a user signs in to OWA depends on which type of voicemail they have. Learn more at tinyurl.com/3hzsnaw.
