Melanie Sanford, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor and professor of chemistry, LSA, recently won the Alpha Chi Sigma Award In Pure Chemistry and the National Fresenius Award presented by Phi Lambda Upsilon, for significant contributions to the organometallic and organic chemistry communities. Research in Sanford’s lab centers on transforming the ubiquitous carbon-hydrogen bond into other functional groups.
