This month in history (95 years ago)In assessing the state of university clubs in March 1916, the Michigan Alumnus reported that the men’s and women’s writing clubs, Phi Alpha Tau and Stylus, pursued the most purely cultural airs, while the debating societies were the most widely supported. The Glee and Mandolin clubs and bands were popular because of the trips they take, and it was reported that The Comedy Club’s productions were so popular they were presented in surrounding cities. — From “Photographic Saga of the University of Michigan” by Anne Duderstadt
