Jyoti Mazumder, Robert H. Lurie Professor of Engineering, has been selected to receive the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Thomas A. Edison Patent Award in recognition of his inventions and contributions advancing laser manufacturing in the research and development laboratory and in industry.

The National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is honoring two U-M chapter members. Mustafa Saadi, a doctorate candidate in civil engineering, has been named one of 10 members on it’s inaugural National Council of Students. He has served as student vice president of the Michigan chapter for the past year. Also, Kevin Callender, a 2010 psychology graduate, has received one of 57 Phi Kappa Phi $5,000 fellowships awarded nationwide to graduating seniors enrolled in a graduate or professional program.

Dr. Steven Bolling, professor of surgery at the Medical School, director of the Multidisciplinary Mitral Valve Clinic, Myocellular Biology Laboratory and the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Research Center, recently received the Forest Dewey Dodrill Award for Excellence. The award is given annually to an individual who through his or her professional accomplishments has made great strides in the advancement of the American Heart Association’s mission to reduce disability and death due to heart disease and stroke.
