She was chosen for the post by Dr. Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, UMHS CEO and executive vice president for medical affairs. In her new role, Vreede also will serve as chief of staff to Pescovitz.

Vreede brings to the position more than 20 years of experience working in health care, 17 of them at UMHS. For the past five years, she has been the lead administrator for the Department of Family Medicine in the Medical School, while also having lead responsibility for five of the health system’s outpatient centers in her role as an ambulatory care administrator. She was the first health care administrator to hold both roles simultaneously.

“Quinta embodies the integration that we aspire to accomplish throughout the organization, on our way to becoming the national leader in health care, health care reform, biomedical innovation and education,” says Pescovitz, whose first anniversary as head of the nationally ranked UMHS is May 11. “I am excited about the great things we can accomplish with Quinta in this role.”

Vreede earned her bachelor’s degree in biological anthropology and zoology and a master’s degree in health services administration from U-M.
