Part of North University to close for transit center project construction

Beginning today (May 3), North University Avenue will be closed between Fletcher and Church streets for the construction of the new Central Campus Transit Center.

During this time, traffic will be directed around the construction site along two alternate routes: via Geddes Avenue, Washtenaw Avenue and Fletcher Street, or via North University Avenue, South State Street, South University Avenue and Church Street.

Detour signs will be posted. However, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. Parking & Transportation Services bus service will be shifted to temporary stops on Church Street. Pedestrian access will be restricted within the construction area throughout the duration of the project.

Way-finding signage will be posted to direct pedestrians to use alternate Central Campus walks. North University Avenue will be open to through traffic during the 2010 Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair (July 19-24). The transit center project is scheduled to be complete by the end of August.
