Mogens Jensen

Mogens Jensen, the first registrar at the UM-Flint, died Sept. 20 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. He was 85.

Jensen, of Grand Blanc, was born in Denmark in 1924. He moved to the United States then married Jean Horton in 1955 in Ann Arbor.

He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. Following graduation he was employed as a guidance counselor at Grand Blanc High School. In 1966 he became the first registrar at UM-Flint and was employed in that position until his retirement in 1987.

Jensen was honored by the Flint Jewish Federation for his heroic actions during World War II for rescuing Danish Jews. He was a member of the BPO Elks — Flint Lodge #0222.

He is survived by his wife Jean, son Kurt, daughter-in-law Anna Jensen and granddaughter Sarah.
