Police warn North Campus about thefts from vehicles
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is alerting students, staff, faculty and residents of North Campus that several thefts from vehicles recently have been reported. In all cases, global positioning systems and other small electronic devices had been left in view, then side windows were smashed and the belongings removed.
Four theft reports were made for incidents that occurred March 10 in lot NW51 on Stone Drive. A possible suspect has been described as a white male about 25-30 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches with a stocky build. He has short hair or possibly is bald and was wearing a dark coat and dark pants. He left the area in a dark-colored, compact car.
Community members are urged to immediately call DPS (911 from a campus phone or (734) 763-1131 from a cell phone) if they observe anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles. Report the parking lot number and a description of the individual(s). Anyone with information about any of the recent thefts is asked to contact the DPS Criminal Investigations Unit at 764-8559.
Additionally, police encourage people to practice these safety precautions when parking their vehicles:
• Do not leave valuables in your vehicle, particularly in view
• Lock all vehicle doors and take your keys with you when leaving the vehicle, even for a few minutes
• Report any suspicious activity to DPS immediately

Green arrested, reward canceled
The Security Bulletins of Feb. 26 and Jan. 13 regarding a reward for information leading to the arrest of Thomas Jacob Green have been canceled. He was arrested without incident March 10 by DPS officers on outstanding felony warrants for larcenies from several campus buildings.
Two arsons may be related
In early February custodians reported to DPS that they found burn marks on a room door and a wooden bench in Angell Hall. No specific date of incident could be established though neither burn mark had been observed a week prior to the reports. There are no suspects in either incident.
Stolen vehicle recovered in Detroit
A vehicle belonging to a Couzens Hall resident that had been reported stolen from campus in early February was found in Detroit. The student told police Feb. 13 that he had parked his white Honda Civic in Lot NC32 on Hubbard Road on Feb. 8 and made sure it was locked and the alarm was set. When he returned several days later, the car was missing. Detroit police recovered the vehicle Feb. 17 but it was missing the ignition, wheels, license plate and other parts. There are no suspects at this time.
Construction vehicle taken from stadium
Construction workers at Michigan Stadium told DPS Feb. 11 that one of their John Deere Gators had been taken overnight. The nearby area was searched but the vehicle was not found. There are no suspects at this time.
