Sexual assault reported near Rackham
A 41-year-old Ann Arbor woman flagged down a Department of Public Safety (DPS) officer May 17 and reported she was assaulted in a car by an unknown man. The police officer had observed the woman exiting an older model, two-door white car on Huron Street near Fletcher Street around 2 a.m. The woman said she had entered the car near Fourth and William streets.
While the man was driving along Huron Street, he grabbed her hair, forcibly fondled her and demanded sex before she was able to escape. The man is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, about 6 feet tall with a dark complexion and braided hair pulled to the back. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, faded blue jeans and a white baseball cap. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call DPS at 763-1131.
Domestic fight at Mott Hospital
The parents and other family members of a 6-year-old patient at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with each other May 5. No one sought medical treatment following the assault. Statements from those involved differ as to how the fight originated. The Washtenaw County prosecutor’s office declined to authorize arrest charges, and the case was closed.
Gate lock broken twice
A gate lock on U-M property on Beck Road in Belleville was reportedly broken into twice in one weekend. Staff from the U-M Key Office repaired the lock May 17, but on May 19 the lock was discovered again to have been cut and removed. It is uncertain if any property was taken.
