Associate Professor Joseph Gone, whose work explores cultural psychology, has been awarded a fellowship by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. This year, the prestigious national honor recognizing distinguished achievement in various fields went to 178 artists, scholars and scientists.

Information and Technology Services has compiled information about the Heartbleed Bug, which affects Web sites and servers using certain versions of OpenSSL software. Most U-M owned servers and websites are now protected from Heartbleed, and there is no evidence that any U-M sites have been compromised.

UM-Dearborn and UM-Flint have announced the speakers for their upcoming commencement ceremonies. The Dearborn campus will conduct morning and afternoon ceremonies on April 27, and the Flint campus will conduct morning and afternoon ceremonies on May 4.

“The administration’s claims regarding the gender pay gap are faulty, and its proposal to make it easier for women to sue employers for equal pay would create a disincentive for firms to hire women,” wrote Mark Perry, professor of finance at UM-Flint, in an opinion piece asserting a pay gap between men and women doesn’t truly exist when other factors are considered.
