Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum are celebrating U-M’s bicentennial with the Grandmother Tree Walk, a self-guided journey through Michigan time that looks at the people, places and events in U-M’s 200-year history from the perspective of trees. The tour runs through Dec. 31.

Interim Provost Paul N. Courant will reach out to faculty and staff in the School of Music, Theater & Dance as he begins the process of forming a committee to assist with a search for the school’s next dean. Aaron Dworkin, dean of the school for the past two years, announced Wednesday that he will step down Aug. 15.

The Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering has awarded its first round of Catalyst Grants, providing $75,000 each to four innovative projects in computational science. They were judged on novelty, likelihood of success, potential for external funding, and potential to leverage computing resources.
|

The UM-Dearborn recognized seven faculty members recently during the 35th Annual Honor Scholars and Faculty Awards Ceremony. The program honors faculty who have distinguished themselves in teaching, research and service, and students who have excelled academically.
