Five U-M faculty members named Guggenheim Fellows

Five LSA professors have been named Guggenheim Fellows. Giorgio Bertellini, Bénédicte Boisseron, Katherine French, Daniel Hack and Valerie Ann Kivelson are among the 180 winners of the prestigious fellowship recently announced by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

Applications sought for CEW+ Carol Hollenshead Inspire Award

The Center for the Education of Women+ is seeking proposal submissions for the Carol Hollenshead Inspire Award for Excellence in Promoting Equity and Social Change. The award, which honors former director Carol Hollenshead’s 20-year tenure at CEW+, provides $1,000 for individuals and $2,000 for groups. 


Secretary of State, senator to share thoughts on Ukraine war

The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy will host a virtual event Thursday examining the domestic and foreign policy implications of the war in Ukraine, featuring discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Sen. Chris Coons, D-Delaware, comprising the Ford School’s Vandenberg Lecture.

Correction: Faculty work to decolonize Philippines collections

The Record’s April 11 email incorrectly listed the U-M college affiliation for Deirdre de la Cruz, one of two faculty members leading a project to address and repair various issues related to the university’s collection of artifacts from the Philippines. She is an associate professor of history and of Asian languages and cultures in LSA.

And in this case, things like greenhouse gas emissions seemingly go out the window,” said Barry Rabe, professor of public policy and the environment, on Democrats’ recent calls for oil companies to ramp up production.
