Presidents discuss evolving relationship of universities and society

From digitizing the knowledge of the world to taking a louder stance on public issues of the day, five U-M presidents on Thursday discussed the ever-changing relationship between universities and society. The panel discussion was part of the second President’s Bicentennial Colloquium.


Grants and mentorship projects announced to aid drug discovery

The Center for the Discovery of New Medicines has awarded funding for four new drug discovery projects by U-M faculty aimed at fighting cancer, sickle cell disease and creating new, non-addictive painkillers. The center is also providing formal mentoring support to two promising, early-stage cancer drug discovery projects.


Survey explores why drivers don’t heed vehicle safety recalls

A new national survey from the U-M Transportation Research Institute explores why many consumers don’t heed vehicle safety recalls and what steps might boost compliance. A full 20 percent of vehicle owners continue to skip recall fixes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
