Bicentennial colloquium to explore societal expectations of U-M

Four previous U-M presidents will join President Mark Schlissel to discuss the tightrope walked by today’s universities as they balance their responsibilities to scholarship and the communities that support them. Joining Schlissel will be Haorld T. Shapiro, James J. Duderstadt, Lee C. Bollinger and Mary Sue Coleman.


University seeking volunteers for Spring Commencement

To Shonda Adams, it’s the little moments she shares with families that make volunteering at Spring Commencement — something she’s done for the last four years — so special. The university is aiming to enlist the help of 100 volunteers like Adams to help with this year’s commencement April 29 at Michigan Stadium.


Women’s basketball captures WNIT title with triple-OT victory

In a game that will be remembered as an instant classic, the U-M women’s basketball team outlasted Georgia Tech, 89-79, in triple overtime to win the Women’s National Invitation Tournament on Saturday. It is the program’s first postseason championship.

Dance for Mother Earth Powwow

Native American dancers participate in the 45th Annual Dance for Mother Earth Powwow, which took place at Ann Arbor’s Skyline High School over the weekend. The event serves to renew and strengthen Native American culture, and is coordinated by U-M’s Native American Student Association in collaboration with the Native American Student Organization at Eastern Michigan University. Safe medication disposal event set for Tuesday

Members of the university community can drop off old or unwanted prescription drugs, vitamins and over-the-counter medications for environmentally safe disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. There are two locations: Ingalls Mall and the North Campus Research Complex.
