Ryder Diggs to chair Board of Regents; Bernstein named vice chair

Regent Shauna Ryder Diggs will serve as the next chair of the Board of Regents for a one-year term beginning July 1. Regent Mark Bernstein was named vice chair when the appointments were announced Thursday by Regent Katherine White at the board's monthly meeting.

Henry Russel lecturer, awardees named for 2016

David E. Meyer, known as one of the most famous psychologists living today, has been selected as the 2016 Henry Russel Lecturer. It is one of the university's highest honors for a senior member of its active faculty.

Michigan Athletics presents fiscal 2016 budget to regents

The Athletic Department will have a balanced budget in fiscal year 2016 based on operating revenues of $153.6 million and operating expenses of $153.6 million. The budget was presented to the Board of Regents on Thursday.

UM-Dearborn budget includes boost in financial aid

The UM-Dearborn operating budget for fiscal year 2016 includes a 5.3 percent increase in the financial aid, investments in building and facility updates, and allocations to address enrollment growth areas. The budget was approved June 18 by the Board of Regents.

The U-M Health System reported positive fiscal year-end results Thursday, with an anticipated 3.2 percent ($86.9 million) operating margin on budgeted operating revenues of $2.7 billion for the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers.

David A. Lam, one of the world's leading scholars in economic demography, is the new director of the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research.

Lam currently is the chair of the Department of Economics and a professor of economics with tenure in LSA.
