Winning departments announced for 2015 Ergonomics Awards

Four university areas were recognized with MHealthy Ergonomics Awards for implementing ergonomic solutions in their workplace.

Winning areas have decreased risk factors and reduced or prevented employee discomfort by adding or modifying equipment, redesigning work processes or offering educational opportunities.

MHealthy is offering two new exercise programs to meet the needs of both wearable-tracker owners and those who like tracking their workouts online.

Nominations are being accepted for the 26th annual James T. Neubacher Award, which is presented to a faculty or staff member, student, or alumna or alumnus for significant achievements in:

• Promoting acceptance and awareness of people with disabilities.

• Advocating for the civil rights of people with disabilities.

Nominations are now being accepted for MHealthy's annual Ergonomics Awards. Any university faculty or staff member can nominate a university unit or employee that has made the workplace safer by implementing ergonomic solutions.

The University of Michigan has been recognized by the WorldatWork Alliance for Work-Life Progress for strategies and practices that help employees achieve success in work-life effectiveness.

U-M is one of 77 employers, and one of 16 universities, awarded the 2015 Seal of Distinction.

Voices of the Staff opened its 10th year Thursday with a town hall meeting that drew President Mark Schlissel and 100 staff volunteers interested in building on VOICES changes that benefit staff.

U-M releases annual salary report

Faculty salary increases at the U-M Ann Arbor campus for 2014-15 averaged 2.9 percent, according to figures for the university's salary report, released Monday.

Salary increases for staff averaged 2.2 percent.

Merit salary increases for executive officers averaged 2.3 percent. Merit increases for deans averaged 2.5 percent.
