Nine U-M students, faculty member attending U.N. climate summit

Nine University of Michigan students and a faculty member are attending this month’s COP 24 summit in Katowice, Poland, where envoys from nearly 200 countries have gathered to discuss and coordinate the fight against climate change.

U-M to end agreement with Confucius Institute next year

The university has decided not to renew the agreement to host a Confucius Institute at the University of Michigan for a third term when the current partnership expires in 2019.

The university has informed Hanban, the headquarters of Confucius Institute, of this decision.

International Institute receives $12.9M in federal Title VI grants

The University of Michigan’s International Institute has been awarded $12.9 million from the U.S. Department of Education under its competitive and prestigious Title VI program.

The awards include Foreign Language and Area Studies grants which will provide fellowships to more than 100 students in the first year.
