This year in history (132 years ago)

The first Women’s Glee Club was formed in 1893, under the direction of Augusta Hastreiter of the School of Music. Ten years later in 1903, an article in a local newspaper about the club stated, “In appearance and in their musical numbers the girls made a most pleasing impression, demonstrating finally and for all time that the University of Michigan has ample material for a good club among the girls.”

Wow – thanks for the larger size option – really something. The photographer must have been on a step ladder or something from this perspective. In the larger version one can see some men there as well.

MCB is shaped like an L, so this photo was taken from a student room looking down on the terrace. I lived in such a room one year.
      This is a wonderful photograph!

I’m curious — which of the Bentley’s collections contains this photo?
