The Office of the Vice President for Research’s Faculty Honorifics Office has launched a new website to demonstrate the breadth and depth of University of Michigan faculty expertise and academic standing.
The website, at facultyhonors.umich.edu, compiles U-M faculty members inducted into prestigious national academies and scholarly societies like the National Academy of Inventors, the American Academy of the Arts and Sciences and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

The Faculty Honorifics Office compiles this data to allow users to discover the many honors, awards, medals and prizes U-M faculty have received, including National Medals, Guggenheim Fellowships, Grammy Awards and Pulitzer Prizes.
“This new website creates a unified home for all of the incredible honors and awards our faculty have received over the decades,” said Faculty Honorifics Office Director Henry Dyson. “It is truly awe-inspiring to see these lists gathered in one place, demonstrating the significant contributions our faculty have made in so many fields. While the lists are as comprehensive as possible, we encourage any corrections or additions to be sent to our office.”
The new platform also lists awards administered by the Provost’s Office, Rackham Graduate School and the Office of the Vice President for Research that recognize excellence in research, scholarship, creative practice, teaching and service.
In collaboration with the unit leaders and the Provost’s Academic and Faculty Affairs group, the Faculty Honors team works to bolster recognition of U-M researchers by increasing the number, range and quality of nominations through better coordination, sharing best practices across the institution and ensuring equitable nomination processes.
The new tool is part of President Santa J. Ono’s Strategy to Amplify Research and Scholarship. Launched in 2023, the strategy aims to create opportunities for U-M researchers to pursue groundbreaking research in partnership with colleagues, federal agencies, foundations and other philanthropic organizations.
“This site illustrates the tremendous heights our faculty have reached and will continue to reach as U-M works to develop programs that support our researchers’ capacity to do even more impactful work,” said Arthur Lupia, interim vice president of research and innovation. “Our faculty make extraordinary discoveries and innovative breakthroughs, and our goal is to share that impact to improve the lives of those in our local communities, and beyond, every day.”
