The University is expected to respond today (Nov. 19) to the Department of Education’s Nov. 9 letter addressing the required number of accessible seats in Michigan Stadium.
Reiterating the University’s longstanding commitment to accessibility at Michigan Stadium, Interim Vice President and General Counsel Gloria Hage said: “The University has always and will always meet or exceed the demand for accessible seating at Michigan Stadium.”
In its letter, the Department of Education maintained that Michigan Stadium fails to meet a numerical standard for accessible seats as the result of a concrete repair project in the bowl.
Negotiations continue with the DOE and University officials are optimistic they will reach a resolution.
“We have given the Department of Education every reason to have confidence in our commitment,” Hage said.
