U-M photographers win awards in national competition

Photo Services photographer Martin Vloet was named Photographer of the Year and joined another U-M photographer in taking several other honors recently in the University Photographers’ Association of America’s Annual Print Competition.

Vloet took first place in three categories: Sports Features, Science & Research and Features & Illustrations. He also received honorable mention in Sports Features.

Scott Galvin took first place in Sports Action and People & Portraits, and honorable mention in Features & Illustrations.

Vloet previously was named Photographer of the Year in 2006 and Galvin took the honor in 2007.

U-M also won institutional awards in the UPAA’s Publications Competition: first place for Publication Covers, third place for View Books and third place for Printed Advertisement.

The Annual Print Competition is open to submissions from university photographers across the country, and from UPAA members in Canada, Israel, and Australia.
