South Division resurfacing to affect traffic starting Monday

Topics:

People using the Thompson Street Parking Structure or driving along South Division Street just off campus may experience temporary changes during a resurfacing project set to begin Monday.

The city of Ann Arbor is scheduled to start resurfacing South Division from East Jefferson Street to Huron Street, with completion expected by mid-July, prior to the opening of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.

The work will be phased and will occur on one-half of the street at a time, keeping one northbound lane of Division open at all times.  On-street parking will be limited during the project.

New curbs and pedestrian ramps will be constructed at the intersections of East Jefferson, East William, East Liberty and East Washington streets.  That work will require partial or full closures of those intersections and will involve vehicle detours during those closures.

At one point in the project, East Jefferson will be closed on each side of South Division, with only local traffic allowed.

Access to the Thompson Street Parking Structure, via Division or Thompson streets will be maintained throughout the project, but routes to and from the structure may vary, depending on which areas of Division are under construction, especially during the East Jefferson closure.
