Six students honored for scholarship nominations

Provost Teresa Sullivan will host a reception for students being nominated this year for the prestigious Rhodes, Marshall and Mitchell scholarships. The event will be 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6, in the Henderson Room in the Michigan League.

The nominees are:

• Christine Beamer (Rhodes, Marshall), who is pursuing dual degrees in English, LSA, and viola performance, School of Music, Theatre & Dance;

• Maia Dedrick (Marshall), who is pursuing dual degrees in anthropology and archaeology, LSA, and cello performance, School of Music, Theatre & Dance;

• Abdul El-Sayed (Rhodes, Marshall), who holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and political science from LSA, and is pursuing a doctorate in epidemiology, School of Public Health (SPH), and an M.D, Medical School;

• Sam Espahbodi (Marshall), who is pursuing a bachelor’s in physics, LSA;

• Neil Rao (Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell), who holds a master’s degree in health management and policy, SPH, and a bachelor’s in English, LSA; and

• Kendal Sparks (Rhodes, Marshall), who holds a bachelor’s in ancient civilizations and biblical studies, LSA and musical theatre, School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
