Crime alert update
Three unknown suspects remain at large following the Dec. 9 armed robbery on North Campus of a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver. Domino’s Pizza continues to offer up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these individuals. Call the U-M Tip-line with information, (734) 763-9180.
A subject was arrested and charged with the armed robberies on State Street and the South University Avenue Subway store during the first week of January. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) Crime Alert, issued Jan. 5, has been canceled.
Three subjects remain at large following the strong-arm robbery of a campus visitor Jan. 6 in the alley near the Church Street carport. The subjects are described as two white males and one dark-skinned male, all in their early 20s, taller than 6 feet, and wearing blue jeans, dark shoes and U-M baseball caps. Angell Hall site of break-ins
A possible suspect has been identified in a series of break-ins at Angell Hall during the first week of December. Computer equipment, keys and personal items were stolen when 10 rooms were illegally entered after hours. The investigation continues.
Beware of money scams
At least six faculty and staff members have been contacted through electronic mail during the past two months and encouraged to participate in an investment opportunity. The e-mail invites readers to assist the people and/or government of Nigeria by providing a U.S. bank account to house money in exchange for a percentage of the money received by the government. In reality, this is an effort to gain access to Americans’ bank accounts in order to steal all of their current deposits. These cases have been turned over to a federal task force coordinated by the U.S. Secret Service.
Student aims gun replica
A female student reported that a gun was aimed at her by a male student Dec. 5. Officers met with the male student and determined that the gun was a replica. However, he was arraigned Jan. 17 on assault and battery charges. He is not on campus this semester.
Snowball fight sends students to emergency room
A snowball fight between hundreds of South Quad and West Quad residents Dec. 8 sent at least two people to the University Hospital Emergency Room for treatment. Officers observed injuries to several other people but could not make contact with them for treatment. The two students were treated and released that evening.
Robbery occurs in Union
A visitor to campus assaulted and robbed a fellow visitor as the two were dining Dec. 16 in the lower level of the Michigan Union. The suspect was arrested and charged with strong-arm robbery.
